Cinematography analytical task

Image
1) Write an analysis of the cinematography in the opening sequence.  Highlight  your use of media language and try to cover camera shots, angles and movement using the terminology we have learned in lessons.  Establishing shot was the first shot to show the laboratory and where the scene would take place. The camera was slight shaky to add realism when the scientist is running and was panning to the action. Close ups were used and the scientists face was zoomed in on gradually as the tension built up. Tracking shits were also used to draw the audience in and when the kids are playing D&D the camera is eye level to make the audience feel as if they just walked into the room. 2) How does the camerawork give the audience clues about the setting, narrative and character? The establishing shot shows the audience the scene takes place in a laboratory.. The close ups on the kids playing D&D shows that they are fooling aro...

Cinematography Learner Response

1) Type up your feedback/comments from your teacher. Starts well-establishing shot, titles on screen, music and editing works Issues is lack of subject/person in video. Without someone in video, medium shot/two shot etc. doesn't work. Too short -brief was for 1 min video 2) Type up your feedback from fellow students. nice, fast paced editing good panning needs to be 1 min there was a variety 3) Now reflect on your work and write your own summary of the comments and feedback you have received. Write  three  WWWs and  three  EBIs. WWW: High and low angles were correct ,I used establishing shot well  EBI: Cant do this project without a subject and all shots were pans. I also need to stick to the brief  4) L earner response: think about what you  learned about cinematography  making the video and also watching others. What will you do differently when you start the coursework in the summer? What tips or tricks have you learned from others that you can...

Sound video feedback and learner response

 1) Type up your feedback from your teacher. Minor technical point- resolution of image in places This meets the brief well- good choice of music and the parallel section is perfect. Good pace and transition to the editing too The contrapuntal section works (particularly the black and white effect) but perhaps doesn't have the same impact as some of the contrapuntal sections we have seen 2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - you can summarise key points if several students give you similar feedback. Good choice of music good switch from happiness to sadness smooth transition quality could be better 3) Now reflect on your work and write your own evaluation of your video. Write a 'What went well' (WWW) paragraph and a paragraph for 'Even Better If' (EBI) underneath the rest of your feedback. WWW: Met the brief and used good pictures to match sound EBI: pictures could have been better quality and I could have tried to make the pictures that are contr...

Sound analysis

Image
  1) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film: Diegetic and non-diegetic sound The sound of metal by Darius Marder uses sound and the absence of sound to further impact the audience and take them on Ruben's,a  heavy metal drummer,   emotional and devastating journey navigating newfound hear loss. The drift from sound to complete silence puts the audience in Ruben shoes and almost makes audience panic at moments of stillness. The static in his ears are non-diegetic as only the audience and Ruben can hear the silence. The silence is contrapuntal to the heavy metal music Ruben is playing which is another way the audience is make to feel uncomfortable because of the unfamiliarity
