Q2 is superb: a brilliant evaluation of the theory, excellent focus on the question. So close to an A
EBI: Slightly more developed paragraphs can push you up. More evidence from the texts could do this or more in-depth discussion of the theoretical ideas. For the last point, more sophisticated theory such as Marxism and hegemony could have helped here.

2) Read the mark scheme for this exam carefully, paying particular attention to the 'indicative content' for each question. Firstly, focus on the unseen question and identify two aspects of the poster that you could have written about in your answer.
  • the thriller/horror/supernatural etc genre (isolated setting, low key lighting, blue hue)
  • the representation of youth as diverse in terms of gender and race

3) Look at the indicative content for Q1 again and make a note of any theories or examples of media terminology you could have used in your answer.

4) Now focus on the TV 25-marker. Read this exemplar response for the TV question and pick out three arguments, phrases or theories from the essay that you could use in a future question on Capital and Deutschland 83.
  • Unknowingly reinforcing ingrained dominant ideologies 
  • The fetishization of the working class
  • television products unconsciously influence encoding and decoding of meanings in media

5) Finally, identify three things you need to revise for Media Paper 2 before your next assessment or mock exam.
Political ideologies - Hegemony and Marxism, pro western values
Non verbal/verbal, narrative and technical codes when analysing an unseen

Cinematography analytical task

1) Write an analysis of the cinematography in the opening sequence.  Highlight  your use of media language and try to cover camera shots, angles and movement using the terminology we have learned in lessons.  Establishing shot was the first shot to show the laboratory and where the scene would take place. The camera was slight shaky to add realism when the scientist is running and was panning to the action. Close ups were used and the scientists face was zoomed in on gradually as the tension built up. Tracking shits were also used to draw the audience in and when the kids are playing D&D the camera is eye level to make the audience feel as if they just walked into the room. 2) How does the camerawork give the audience clues about the setting, narrative and character? The establishing shot shows the audience the scene takes place in a laboratory..  1) Type up your feedback from your teacher. Minor technical point- resolution of image in places This meets the brief well- good choice of music and the parallel section is perfect.
