Coursework: Pre-production planning
1) Music video treatment The music video for "21" by Gracie Abrams, reimagined by Selene Nyx, captures the essence of indie pop through a nostalgic lens. Her artistic identity relies heavily on her uniqueness and her performing in the indie pop genre adds to that, Also, her music has a narrative focus using relatable experiences and her visual style ties it together with warm colours and candid illustrations. I plan to show the bond between two people, then their falling out and distancing, then the self reflection. I will then layer the video with illustrations. In regards to progression, the video entails my artist finding the shoes, this triggers a series of flashbacks in the present, the story follows my artist on her way to the friends house giving the shoes back. 2) Mise-en-scene planning Plan everything that will appear in front of the camera in your music video - and this is vital when it comes to music video and music genre. Statement of Intent feedback and learner response.
Feedback: This is already very strong with clear potential to reach the top level. Media language is actually one of the weaker areas currently – could you offer a little more in terms of what you are planning to make? Some of this will come later in terms of print but with regards to the video can you mention any other elements? E.g. costume, editing, visual style, post-production or effects… you don’t need to cover everything but perhaps a little more than you have currently? The audience section feels like it drifts slightly towards representation… perhaps an area to look at and maybe bring in a little more theory here? Representation is strong but could you bring in a little more theory here too? I feel there is potential there considering the points you are already making. Print brief is addressed at the start but I would go back to this in January to add specific details when you have done the print research and planning tasks. I will add more theories- Paul G...
